$ 10 salicylic acid cleanser cleared my pimple in 24 hours

TLast year, he created the perfect storm for acne on any skin type. Due to stress, masks and prolonged exposure to indoor air, even people who rarely break out suddenly have to deal with unexpected pimples appearing on their chin – and I’m one of those people. As someone with normally dry, dehydrated skin, I hadn’t seen acne in over a year (although peeling and redness is a whole different story …) until last month when I had a huge red sore little friend on my chin. … But with Three Ships’ Refresh Papaya + Salicylic Acid Cleanser, it disappeared in 24 hours.

As the name suggests, the main ingredient in the cleanser is salicylic acid, which is praised by the dermis for its ability to fight acne. It is a beta hydroxy acid, which means it is derived from fat-soluble oils and can way deep into the pores to target acne at all levels. “BHAs promote exfoliation by helping to prevent clogged pores and heal them,” says David Lorscher, MD, dermatologist and founder of Curology. “Salicylic acid works by penetrating and removing dirt (sebum) in your pores so that it no longer remains trapped, which reduces the likelihood of acne.” The ingredient acts as a kerolytic – which means it opens up pores and unclogs them from the inside, as well as dissolves dead skin – which is why salicylic acid cleanser has become a popular treatment for all types of acne. Apart from salicylic acid, the cleanser also contains papaya, which naturally brightens and balances the skin.

During my morning skincare routine, I gave my face a minute wash with a focus on the areas around the pimple. While this is a foaming formula (which, given my dry skin, I was told for a long time to stay away from it), it didn’t give my complexion the horrible ‘squeakiness’ feel that would indicate it had been peeled off. skin. natural oils. This is due to the fact that it contains 10 different amino acids that help strengthen the skin’s barrier and allow moisture retention. Although the brand suggests using the product once a day, I repeated this process overnight (and then applied my usual CeraVe moisturizer), and when I woke up the next morning my pimple was completely gone.

In the month since this miraculous event, I have used the cleanser several times a week to prevent any looming breakouts, and despite the fact that I wear a mask all the time (both stress and the fact that I rarely leave the house ), I have not seen even a hint of a new pimple. While I can’t promise this salicylic acid cleanser can do this kind of magic on all skin types, I know it has become as much a part of my personal routine as wearing a mask and staying at home.
